Italian language course and activities on January and February
I have just completed one month at the Italian school Federico II in Catania, Sicily.
What a fantastic experience! I have enjoyed it so much!
The school is right in the heart of Catania, right by Piazza Duomo and near to the sea where there is always something to do in this busy city.
All of the staff and teachers are fantastic and fun. The lessons are in Italian, but don’t worry as you will end up understanding and learning and this is the best way to learn a new language. You can even stay with an Italian family to enter into the full immersion environment and immerse yourself even more by attending the weekday afternoon activities, such as a walking tour of Catania, and various cultural activities and classroom stories of Italian traditions, ways and culture. If you are lucky you may even be there when the wine tasting evening is on. Best of all this is all included in the price.
At the weekends go on the payable excursion to Mount Etna, a must see when you are here in Sicily.
Throughout the year Catania has some great festivals to enjoy, so it is ideal to combine the weekday mornings at school and participate in the festivals also.
In February I have just seen Catania’s biggest and busiest festival of Sant Agata, who is the patron saint of the City.
This is a great school if you are a beginner or want to brush up on your Italian or want to study Italian longer. Just ask the school to see when there is a course to suit you. Or even have private lessons.
All of the teachers are very helpful and patient and you will learn Italian and enjoy yourself to!
Once a week in the evening there is the cooking lesson, which is great, as the directors, staff and students get together and you get to learn, cook, eat, have wine and practice your Italian, you can even bring your new found friends here too for just 5 euros.
In the summer time the school offers lessons and beach activities in the afternoon. I will definitely return to school in the summer!
Whatever your age you will find the school fun and something to suit you in the city and surroundings whatever time of the year. Catania has a great nightlife, where you can meet lots of new friends out and about and at school and have fun and the weather is better, sunnier and hotter here than the rest of Italy.
This is a great experience that will remain with you forever.
The school’s motto of ‘learning for fun’ is correct – come along and find out for yourself!

GRAZIE MILLE.
